Welcome to the Religious Education Department
Our aim in this department is to support children and young people in reflecting upon, developing and affirming their own beliefs, values and attitudes through and exploration of shared human experiences and of the place and significance of religion in the contemporary world.
At Key Stage 3 pupils are taught to consider if religious ideas can be linked to aspects of their own lives and to distinguish between the six popular religions in the UK at present. Key Stage 4 extends and enhances this understanding and encourages pupils to justify their own opinion and consider a number of opposing opinions in relation to issues that have always had social and political resonance, for example, abortion, euthanasia and war.
